Kui Ren is currently an associate professor of computer science and engineering department at State University of New York at Buffalo. In the past, he has been an associate/assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering department at Illinois Institute of Technology. He received his PhD degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Kui's research interests include Cloud Security, Wireless Security, and Smartphone-enabled Crowdsourcing Systems. His research has been supported by NSF, DoE, AFRL, and Amazon. He is a recipient of National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2011. Kui received the Best Paper Award from IEEE ICNP 2011. Kui serves as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, IEEE Wireless Communications, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing, and Journal of Communications and Networks. Kui is a senior member of IEEE, a member of ACM, and a past board member of Internet Privacy Task Force, State of Illinois.


Lab Introduction

The UbiSeC lab at University at Buffalo's CSE department conducts research in the general areas of Cloud Computing & Big Data Security, Wireless Security, Smart Grid Security, and Smartphone-enabled Crowdsourcing Systems. Our research has been supported by National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Air Force Research Lab, Amazon Web Services. Our mission is to develop sound security and privacy technologies for enhancing society welfare in the era of ubiquitous computing.
