Lab Director (or Principal Investigator)

Pei-Yun Tsai (S'02-M'06) received her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1994, 1996, and 2005, respectively. From 1996 to 2000, she worked at ASUStek. Since 2006, she has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Central University, Taiwan, where she is current an Associate Professor.
Her research interests include baseband signal processing algorithms and VLSI design for digital communication systems. Prof. Tsai has received the Acer Longtern Award and 1st Asian Solid-State Circuit Conference Student Design Contest Outstanding Award in 2005. Also she has received MXIC Golden Silicon Award in 2005 and 2010. In 2011 and 2014, she received outstanding chip design award honorable mention from Chip Implementation Center, Taiwan. In 2013, she received Best Paper Award in VLSI/CAD Symposium. From 2012 to 2014, she was the organizer of Ministry of Education Integrated Circuit Design Contest. She serves as a TC member in ISCAS VSPC track and in APSIPA. From 2014, she serves as a TPC member of Asian Solid-State Circuits Conference (ASSCC) in SoC and signal processing track.

Lab Introduction

Our Lab develops digital signal processing algorithms for wireless communications, such as MIMO techniques, Coordinated Multiple-Point (CoMP) technique, multi-user MIMO...etc. Low-power integrated circuit/architecture implementation and SoC are designed for wireless communications or digital signal processing. We have implemented baseband transceivers for 2x2 MIMO-OFDM LTE systems to support high mobility and for 4x4 MIMO-OFDM 802.11ac-like system to support 40/80/160MHz bandwidth.
