Lab Director (or Principal Investigator)

Hanli Wang received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2001 and 2004, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from City University of Hong Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kong, in 2007. From 2007 to 2008, he was a Research Fellow with the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong. From 2007 to 2008, he was also a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA. From 2008 to 2009, he was a Research Engineer with Precoad, Inc., Menlo Park, CA, USA. From 2009 to 2010, he was an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at University of Hagen, Hagen, Germany. Since 2010, he has been a full Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai, China. Since May 2011, he has been promoted to the department associate head. He has published more than 60 high-quality research papers, including 18 IEEE Transactions journals. He successfully led or played a significant role in more than 10 research projects. He is an IEEE Senior Member, a member of Humboldt Foundation and a member of Chinese Computer Federation.


Lab Introduction

The Multimedia and Intelligent Computing (MIC) Lab was founded by Hanli Wang in 2011, which was affiliated to the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tongji University and the Key Laboratory of Embedded System and Service Computing, Ministry of Education, China. The current lab members include 1 post-doctoral fellow, 4 PhD candidates and 11 master candidates. The research areas are digital video coding, multimedia content analysis, computer vision, machine learning, and big multimedia data driven intelligent computing.
