Kwanghoon Sohn/He received the B.E. degree in electronic engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, in 1983, the M.S.E.E. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1985, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State University in 1992. He was a Senior Member of the Research Staff with the Satellite Communication Division, Electronics and Telecommunications
Research Institute, Daejeon, Korea, from 1992 to 1993, and as a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the MRI Center in the Medical School, Georgetown University in 1994. He was a Visiting Professor with Nanyang Technological University from 2002 to 2003. He is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Yonsei University. His research interests include 3D image processing, computer vision, and image communication. He is a senior member of IEEE and member of SPIE.

Digital Image Media Lab was founded at Yonsei University in 1996. Under supervision of Prof. Kwanghoon Sohn, various topics in digital image processing field have been researched. Specific topics we are interested in and researching currently are 3D video processing, visual quality assessment, 3D video coding, color science, and intelligent vision system. We are currently participated in various projects funded by the national research foundation, and also cooperate with industrial companies. DIML was awared "Laboratory as excellent" by the support program of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development in 2005. The alumni of DIML have researched actively with their expertise on varous fields at major companies and national research laboratories.
