Lab Director (or Principal Investigator)

Prof. Zongming Guo received the B.S. degree in mathematics, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 1987, 1990, and 1994, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Institute of Computer Science and Technology, Peking University. His current research interests include video coding, processing, and communication.

Dr. Guo is the Executive Member of the China- Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. He was a recipient of the First Prize of the State Administration of Radio Film and Television Award in 2004, the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award in 2006, the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Award in 2007, the Wang Xuan News Technology Award and the Chia Tai Teaching Award in 2008, and the Government Allowance granted by the State Council in 2009.


Lab Introduction

Video Information Processing Group (VIP), led by Prof. Zongming Guo in the Institute of Computer Science and Technology at Peking University, is devoted to theoretical studies and practical applications of multimedia data processing, communication and networking technologies. Current research activities of the group include: video compression, image processing, and video streaming over peer-to-peer networks and wireless networks. There are five faculties, seven PhD students, several master students and intern students working in the group.
