Asst. Prof. Supavadee Aramvith

Supavadee Aramvith (IEEE S'95-M'01-SM'06, IEICE M'04) received the B.S. (first class honors) degree in Computer Science from Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1993. She received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. She joined Chulalongkorn University in June 2001. She is also a guest lecturer at Department of Computer Science and ICT International Program, Faculty of ICT, Mahidol university since August 2001. Currently, she is currently an Assistant Professor, Associate Dept Head in Information and International Affairs, and Head of Communication Engineering at Department of Electrical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She was Assistant Executive Director of AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat, JICA Project from 2007-2009. She serves as IEEE Thailand Section Secretary (2010-2011), IEEE Region 10 Executive Committee: Educational Activities Coordinator (2011-2014), IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) Section Outreach Committee (2011-2014), and IEEE Engineering Projects for Communities Service (EPICS) Committee (2012-Present). She is also in the IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society Technical Committee on Multimedia System and Applications, and IEEE Communication Society Multimedia Communication Committee. She also serves as Conference manager and Executive secretary of IEICE Bangkok area representative. In addition, she also serves as a technical advisor to The National Telecommunications Commissions of Thailand in several capacities such as Committee on the study group of Wireless Multimedia Convergence (2007), Chairsperson of Technical Standard of Multimedia Communication Drafting (2008), Chairsperson of Monitoring and Evaluation of TeleHealth Experimental Project in Thailand (2008-2010), Project Leader of Migration from Legacy to All IP Networks in Thailand (2008), and Project Director of NGN Testing/Trial Site in Phuket (2009), Committee of Recommendation of Spectrum Allocation for WiMAX (2009), Committee for drafting technical specification of telecommunication equipments for elderly and disabilities (2010), Committee for drafting telecommunication standard (2010). Other Professional activities involve Associate Editor of Journal of Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing (JIHMSP), Guest Editor of ECTI-EEC Transaction (Thailand), and a reviewer of major journals such as IEEE Transaction on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, IEEE Transaction on Multimedia, ETRI Journal (Korea), Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation and EIT Image processing. She also serves as International Steering Committee of IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication System (ISPACS), Board Member of International Workshop for Advanced Image Technology (IWAIT) and Technical Program Committee of many well known conferences.

Her research interests include computer vision techniques for surveillance applications, rate-control for video coding, error resilient video coding for wireless video transmissions, and image/video retrieval techniques. She currently leads Electronics Thai Sign Language Communication System Project funded by Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission. She has published 3 International Book Chapters, and over 100 International/National Journals and Conference Proceedings. She has advised 4 Ph.D. Graduates, 20 Master? Graduates and over 30 Bachelor? graduates.


Lab Introduction

VTRG is established in 2001 under the supervision of Dr. Supavadee Aramvith. Our group has the aim to pursue theoretical and applied researches in video technology and multimedia applications. With the strong connection with Foreign Universities especially in ASEAN and Japan, VTRG attracts both competent Thai and international students to continue their higher degrees and gain diversified exposures on industrial projects, international collaborative research projects, and government consultancy projects. Our group has produced over 100 publications in international journal and conference proceedings.
