Lab Director (or Principal Investigator)

Ta-Sung Lee received the B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1983, the M.S. degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1987, and the Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, W. Lafayette, IN, in 1989, all in electrical engineering. In 1990, he joined the Faculty of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Hsinchu, Taiwan, where he holds a position as Professor of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

From 2005 to 2007, he was Chairman of Department of Communication Engineering, and from 2007 to 2008, he was Dean of Student Affairs of NCTU. His other past positions include Technical Advisor at Information and Communications Research Labs. of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Managing Director of Communications and Computer Continuing Education Program, NCTU. He was Vice Chairman and Chairman of IEEE Communications Society Taipei Chapter from 2005 to 2008, a Board Member of IEEE Taipei Section from 2007 to 2010, and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing from 2009 to 2013. Dr. Lee was appointed Commissioner of National Communications Commission (NCC) by the Premier of Taiwan for the term 2008-2010. He is currently Regional Director-at-Large for Region 10 of IEEE Signal Processing Society and an Associate Editor of Journal of Signal Processing Systems.

Dr. Lee has led many integrated projects in several national research programs. He has won several awards for his research, engineering and education contributions; these include two times National Science Council (NSC) Superior Research Award, Young Electrical Engineer Award of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering (CIEE), Distinguished Electrical Engineering Professor Award of CIEE, two times NCTU Distinguished Scholar Award, and NCTU Teaching Award.

Lab Introduction

Communication System Design and Signal Processing (CSDSP) Lab.
As its name suggests, the CSDSP Lab. is dedicated to the research and development of advanced communication system design and related signal processing techniques. Faculty and students of the Lab. have been engaged in a broad range of research areas including design of 4G mobile communication systems and digital multimedia broadcasting systems, signal processing for MIMO-OFDM systems, cognitive and cooperative communication systems, and wireless sensor networks, etc. Students in the Lab. have the exposure to both state-of-the-art communication technologies and the practice of implementing them.
